And Rava said: These two bubbles that are adjacent to one another -

have no examination.

Since it was clear to Rava that such a situation, of two adjacent bubbles, results from a perforation that formed in the lung, and we do not see it, and it is therefore a terefa.

And if there were

one

bubble,

and it appears as two

bubbles -

we bring a thorn,

we bring a thorn

and pierce

and puncture

it

on one of its sides, and we see:

if they spill into one another,

when the liquid found in the punctured bubble comes out, the liquid found in the second bubble passes into it,

it is one

bubble

and it is fit. But if not -

they are two

bubbles

and it is a terefa.

And Rava said: It has five lobes,

it has five separate lobes

the lung.

And when they suspend the animal after slaughter by its legs, and open its belly, and it is found suspended in such a manner that

its nose,

its intestines, are turned

toward the man

who cuts its belly, behold,

three,

three of the five lobes are found

on the right

of the slaughterer,

and two

lobes are found

on the left

of the slaughterer.

And if

one lobe is missing

one lobe

or one is additional

[one lobe [every excess is considered as removed]],

or exchanged

there were three lobes on the left and two on the right -

it is a terefa.

That

lobe

that was additional and came before him,

which was brought before him to ask about it

of Marimar.

Rav Aha was sitting at the gate. He said to him

Rav Aha said to the man who had come to ask Marimar, and who came out from him:

What did he say to you,

what did Marimar answer you?

He said to him: I declared it fit for him!

He said to him

Rav Aha:

Go back, bring it in before Marimar,

go back and bring it in to Marimar to ask him a second time, perhaps Marimar did not examine it properly. For Rav Aha held like Rava, that an additional lobe is a terefa.

That man went back to Marimar to ask him a second time.

Marimar said to him

to that man:

Go, say to the one who is sitting at the gate,

go and say to the one who is sitting at the gate of the house, namely, Rav Aha:

The halakha is not like Rava with regard to an additional lobe!

And this matter

that an additional lobe is fit, is when

it stands in the row of the lobes,

in the row of the lobes. That is, it is added in a place where an additional lobe ought to be.

But

if it stands

in between -

it is a terefa.

That

lobe that

was in between and came before Rav Ashi. Rav Ashi thought to declare it a terefa.

Rav Huna said to him: Master [

Rav Ashi, who are]

son of Avya! All these wild animals

outside,

all the animals that graze in pasture [outside, or in the wilderness],

have this, and the slaughterers call it “einunita de-varda.” “

Einunita” is like “inunita,” that is, a small lobe resembling a rose in its red color.

And this matter

that it is to be declared fit when that einunita de-varda was

from inside,

under the lung.
